A George III sterling silver salver, London 1810 by Paul Storr (1771-1844, first reg. 12th Jan 1793)
Of circular form with shaped cavetto edge with a double shell, acanthus and gadrooned rim interspaced with anthemion, each raised on three leaf sand rosette ionic feet. The field centre engraved with a coat of arms with in foliate scroll mantling, surmounted by a helmet and a crest of a demi-griffin winged holding an escutcheon, charged with an estoile of six points, all with motto below unita forttior. Fully marked to the reverse and stamped with numerals 502 and a sideways S.

An Alexander Joseph Plowes (1859-1925) was born in Buenos Ayres, Argentina, to a Fredrick and Maria Plowes, later residing at 12 West Halkin Street, Belgrave Square.
