Leavelle (James)

Leavelle (James)

Black and white photographic reproduction of the picture featuring Lee Harvey Oswald being shot while escorted by Leavelle through the basement of Dallas Police headquarters, signed and inscribed in black felt tip "To Ken Mills, my best to you, James R. Leavelle, Dallas Police Detective", pen annotation to the reverse, 10 x 8"; with a typed letter from Leavelle to Mr Mills, reading in part "I did have the opportunity to talk with Oswald one on one, while he did answer my questions he would not admit to shooting any one. It really did not make that much difference for we had plenty of evidence to take him to court and get a conviction. At the time of the shooting in the basement the only thing I thought of was to protect my prisoner, however I was unable to do that since it happened so fast. There was a 10 to 12 second break in security that permitted Ruby to get in the basement. It was just one of those things that happens and could not have been prevented", one page, folding marks, 4to, Garland, Texas, 11 May 1991; with another note from Leavelle (3)

Estimated at £250 - £350
