Fu Hua, born in Beijing in 1928, is a highly acclaimed Chinese artist known for his innovative approach to traditional Chinese ink painting. He is regarded as one of the most influential contemporary Chinese artists of his generation. He began studying traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy as a child, and he later studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He was heavily influenced by the literati painting style of the Song Dynasty, which emphasized the use of calligraphy and brushwork in painting.

In the 1960s, Fu began experimenting with new materials and techniques, and he developed his signature style of ink painting. He combined traditional ink painting techniques with contemporary Western painting styles, incorporating elements of abstraction and expressionism into his works. His works are characterized by their bold brushwork, vibrant colors, and abstract forms. He draws inspiration from nature, and his works often feature landscapes, flowers, and birds. He is also known for his use of calligraphy in his paintings, which adds a lyrical quality to his works.

Throughout his career, Fu has received numerous awards and honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chinese National Academy of Arts in 2008. His works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. In addition to his artistic achievements, Fu has also been a prominent art educator. He has taught at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and at universities in the United States.
