An early 20th century Chinese export silver cigarette box, Shanghai dated 1904, marked Di, retailed by Wang Hing of Canton
Qing dynasty. Of rectangular form with a hinged lid, embossed and chased decoration all over of bamboo against a textured ground. Engraved to the internal lower bezel “S. R. E. (Vi) Shooting Prize 1904, Sergt E. J. Pullar”. Wooden interior. Marked underneath with an artisan mark 迪 (DI), numeral 90, and retailer’s mark WH.
