A Victorian sterling silver gilt fitted coromandel ladies travelling vanity case, London 1866 by Wright & Davies

The rectangular coromandel veneered travelling case with inlaid brass edging. The lid opening to reveal a maroon velvet interior fitted with ten silver gilt mounted jar and bottle, the soap and other jars with plain clear glass bodies with star cut bases, the back row including three scent bottles all with octagonal hobnail cut clear glass bodies, one jar with a hinged push button release lid. All jars and bottles centring around a pull-out tray fitted with a gilt silver medicine spoon, an unmarked gold propelling pencil with a sardonyx terminal, stamped S Mordan & Co, an unmarked silver gilt ear scoop cum tweezer, bodkin, and bobbin, also a gilt metal scent bottle corkscrew and a mother of peal handled glove button hook. The interior lid with a push button release to reveal a Moroccan leather-bound mirror and a Moroccan leather document sleeve. The interior with gilt brass hinged and corner mounts, with the lock plate 1 Bramah Piccadilly. A push button release to the back to reveal the lower drawer with velvet interior, the edge of drawer signed in brass, P&F Schafer, makers, 27 Piccadilly London. A push button release to the side to reveal a side drawer. Each of the silver jars and the medicine spoon engraved with initials in cypher ERC in gothic script, the lid of the box inlaid the same in engraved gilt brass. The jar and bottle lids all fully marked, except for scents bottles, where marked also stamped for P&F Schafer, the medicine spoon fully marked, makers mark probably overstriking that of Francis Higgins.
