A VERY FINE SILK QUM PRAYER RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The soft rust field with large flowering vase, floral and leafy vines, together with various birds. Single narrow column supporting lattice floral mihrab above. Deep indigo arched stripe with arabesques. In soft-beige border of angular open floral panels, flowering vases and floral motifs. Between panelled floral stripes. Outer barber-pole and plain stripes. approx. 7ft.4in x 4ft.5in(224cm x 136cm). A very good type and very nicely drawn and detailed design. Colours are well blended. This rug has full pile. Soft silk quality. Salvages original with a tiny wear on cord. Ends with short fringes. Very fine weave approx. 8 x 8 knots per sq.cm. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Attractive and elegant piece.
