Churchill (Winston Spencer)
Typed letter from 'Sammy' at the Ministry of Information to John ('Jock') Rupert Colville, regarding an error that was made when a letter of Churchill to Chamberlain was communicated to the Press, one page, 4to, 9 October 1940, with handwritten comment by Churchill in red ink saying "It is better to be more formal in official correspondence, WSC, 11.x", the letter partially pasted onto blue-lined notepaper, some foxing; with a handwritten note from Colville to Churchill, saying in part "I gather from Sir A. Lascelles that Mr Attlee does attach a good deal of importance to the Jowitt earldom though he readily gave way about poor Lord Addison", with red ink comment by Churchill "await full list" and a doodle flower at close, one page, Prime Minister headed paper, punch hole to top left corner, tall 8vo, n.d.
