Tang Yunshan (1905-1993) was a Chinese painter and art educator known for his contributions to the development of modern Chinese painting. He was born in Shanghai and began studying traditional Chinese painting at a young age. He later attended the Shanghai School of Fine Arts, where he was trained in both Western and Chinese painting techniques. In the 1930s, Tang became a leading figure in the Lingnan School of Painting, which was based in Guangzhou and emphasized the use of bright colors and bold brushwork. He was known for his unique style, which blended elements of traditional Chinese painting with modernist approaches.

In addition to his artistic practice, Tang was a highly respected art educator. He taught at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts for over three decades, and his students included many of China's leading contemporary artists. Tang's contributions to Chinese art have been widely recognized. He received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the National Painting Exhibition Gold Medal and the title of National Master of Arts.
