The cups delicately potted with cylindrical feet and gently-flared rims, one of the cups painted with butterflies hovering amongst large flowering peonies, the other with insects hovering over peonies and blossoming branches, each of the bowls decorated with a pair of birds perched on a rocky outcrop beside peonies, chrysanthemums and daisies, all with diaper pattern bands painted in gilt around the feet and rims and inscriptions to the reverse, all with jiangxi ciye gongsi marks to bases,

Note: These cups and bowls were produced by the Jiangxi Porcelain Company factory, which was established in 1910 as a state-sponsored joint venture as a successor to the Imperial factories. These pieces were likely produced during the second-quarter of the 20th century.
