A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver three-piece tea service, Lucknow circa 1890
Raj period, comprising a teapot, a covered milk jug and a covered twin handled sugar bowl. Each of rounded circular form with a cavetto upper section leading to a scalloped everted rim. The teapot with a curved spout opposite a D section handle fitted with ivory insulators pinned to scroll sockets. Each with a hinged domed lid surmounted by a finial of a bird perched upon three eggs. The bodies with embossed decoration in jungle pattern, depicting an elephant grappling with a wild dog, hounds pursing antelope, lions chasing a dog or bison, wild dogs attacking gazelle and combinations there upon, all with palm trees against a textured ground. The cavetto and lids similarlydecorated. (3)
