A FINE KURK KASHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The rust red field with delicate meandering floral and leafy vine together with serrated pamlettes around concentric floral medallion with arabesque pendants and ivory floral centrepiece. Spandrels similar. In an indigo border of polychrome palemettes, rosette and leafy vine togehter with bold arabesques between light blue and dusty-pink floral meander stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 6ft.6in. x 4ft.4in.(198cm. x 132cm.). Very good type with great kurk wool quality, soft and lustrous. Colours are well blended and design in well drawn. This rug has full pile. Ends with original kilim. Selvages are olso original. Fine weave, approx: 7 x 7 knots per sq.cm. In general this rug is in very good conditon throughout. Attractive and elegant piece.
