AN IZNIK-STYLE CANTAGALLI POTTERY VASE
Ulisse Cantagalli, Florence, Italy, 19th century

Of pyriform shape, resting on a short straight foot, with a bulbous body narrowing to a slim tapering neck, painted in cobalt blue, green, red and turquoise with black outlines on a white ground, decorated with typical Iznik-inspired floral designs featuring cusped arabesque-like cartouches filled with rosette and tulip stems to the body and neck, a stylised fretwork band separating the two registers, the underside of the base marked with the 'saucy singing rooster'1 and Firenze Italy in cobalt blue, 27.5cm.
