Lo Ch'ing is a contemporary Chinese painter, calligrapher, and poet. He was born in 1948 in Qingdao, Shandong province, China. However, his parents relocated to Taiwan in 1949, where he spent his formative years. During his early years, he received classical ink painting training from Pu Ru, an expert in the court tradition of ink painting and a member of the Qing Imperial family. Lo later pursued his academic studies at Fu Jen University, majoring in English. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1974. Over the course of his career, Lo has held positions as both a professor of fine arts and a professor of literature at universities across the globe, including Taiwan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Prague, and mainland China.

His works blends traditional Chinese painting techniques with modern Western art styles, resulting in a unique and distinctive style. Lo Ch'ing's work often focuses on the beauty of nature and the natural world, using traditional Chinese motifs such as birds, flowers, and landscapes. His paintings are characterized by bold, flowing brushstrokes and vibrant colors that evoke the beauty and energy of the natural world.

In addition to painting, Lo Ch'ing is also an accomplished calligrapher and poet. His calligraphy is highly regarded for its fluidity and grace, and his poetry often explores themes of nature and spirituality. He is also widely recognized as a pioneer of post-modern poetry in Taiwan, and his poetry has been published and translated into many languages.

His works has been influential in shaping contemporary Chinese art and continues to inspire and captivate audiences around the world. His unique fusion of traditional Chinese art techniques with modern Western styles has created a new and exciting aesthetic that bridges the gap between East and West.

Lo Ch'ing's artwork is featured in numerous prestigious collections around the world, including the British Museum in London, the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada, the Saint Louis Art Museum in the United States, the Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst in Berlin, the National Taiwan Museum, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, and the Asia Society in New York.
