AN ANTIQUE SHAHSAVAN VERNEH, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The ivory field with small S-motif arond horizontal rows of multicoloured open hooked panels containing stylised animal figures and small angular floral motifs. In similar design borded and outer fine lattice stripe, approx: 161cm. x 167cm. Very good example for this, seldom found in the sales. This piece is woven on cotton with wool design in two halves, sawn together. Touches of wear in few small places. Small hole and splits towards one end. Selvages with small fraying on cord on few places. Ends original. Despite imperfections this verneh is in good usable condition. Attractive piece.
