A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver water bottle (surahi), Lucknow circa 1870
Raj period, of globular form with a tall tapering neck with plain knop above a section of acanthus leaves, all upon a collet foot. The removable domed lid fixed by a chain attached underneath the knop. The body with finely flat chased decoration of arabesques scrolls and rosettes between bands of palmettes, below the chased acanthus leaves a band of trailing fruiting vine.
