A George III late 18th century unmarked gold seal, circa 1790

Bell form with pierced and fluted sides, the carnelian seal intaglio cut with an impaled coat of arms in shield shape cartouche below tied ribbon, in a Roman setting. Ring attachment, with a watch key and a concealed hook, with engraved decoration.

Height – 4 cm / 1.5 inches

Gross weight – 18 grams / 0.58 ozt

The arms are for Bree impaling Mallory

for Rev William Bree (1754-1822) of Allesely who married Elizabeth Mallory in 1783, she the sister of Robert Harvey Mallory (1757-1820)

William Bree was the second son and third child of Rev. Thomas Bree (1716-1778) and Anne Blencowe (1717-1801)
