A late 19th century Arts & Crafts ash Sussex Chair, designed by William Morris, with a turned spindle back, rush seats, raised on turned supports, joined by stretchers, 85cm high x 59cm wide x 50cm deep
Note: The vendors ancestor was Montague Edward Fordham (1864-1948), first director of the Birmingham Guild and School of Handicrafts, following its 1890 foundation, also director of the Arts and Crafts gallery from 1899 till 1908 and head of the Artificers Guild from 1903 to 1906. The chair has been passed down through the family and it is possble the chair was owned by him.
