2 bottles of Chateau Leoville Poyferre 1961
“The sweet strawberry feel of an older wine is in abundance here, alongside touches of rust and iodine and haunting aromatics. Soft and slow unravelling through the palate alongside the feeling that, at this point, this wine is not going anywhere for awhile. A thrill to taste, although you might find some other wines from this vintage with a touch more vigour. Tannins are still in evidence and there is life ahead of them. Cold ash, soft cured leather, clear undergrowth notes and gentle spice. This bottle was just re-corked in 2017, so probably needs another year or so to fully settle back down. Drinking Window 2018 – 2025”
