Sudan, Africa, late 19th - early 20th century

With a pronounced crescentic cutting edge, the brass forte inscribed 'The King, the Sultan 'Ali Dinar, 121' on one side, 'Son of the King - the King Muhammad Al-Fadl' on the latter, the brass butt with vertical ridges all around, the staff lined in dark leather and enhanced with tubular silver fittings, in the centre of the staff a strip of animal leather with fur, possibly lion, 64cm high.
