AN EXTREMELY FINE PART SILK SIGNED ISFAHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The ivory field with scrolling floral and leafy vine together with stylised double boteh motifs and birds around cusped floral medallion with hooked palmette pendants and stylised flowering vase centerpiece. In light soft beige border of polychrome palmettes, boteh motifs and delicate meandering vine between light blue palmette and arabesque stripes. Outer plain stripe. approx: 5ft.6in. x 3ft.7in.(168cm. x 109cm.) Very nicely drawn design and very well balanced paster colours. This rug has full pile of soft kurk wool and part silk. Both ends with original kilim and fringes. Selvages also original. Extremely fine weave, approx: 10 x 9 knotss per sq.cm; woven on silk foundation. In general this rug is in an excellent condition throuhgout. Attractive and elegant piece. Signature cartouche at one end, Dardashti.
