Notes:

Mike Wood was born in the City of York. He won a scholarship to York Art College whilst still at school. His interests widened and he began to carve animals and birds and this has occupied his life during the last 25 years. His work is carved to life size from either Jelutong or Basswood, both have a very fine grain which allow carving in minute detail.

This is a unique item made in January 2005 as a personal commission for the current vendor. The vendor and the artist were great friends over a number of years and this is one from a collection of many.
