In the style of Giuseppe Parvis, possibly Italy or Egypt, second half 19th century

Of typical rectangular shape, resting on four compressed globular feet surmounted by a stepped base, made of two units joined together, the lower section featuring green, blue and white stained glass windows with a stellar design in the centre covering a cupboard with one shelf and fitted with modern lighting, openwork mashrabiya panels around the cusped arch, Moorish columns to the sides of the arch, bands of beading, rosette roundels to the edges, pseudo-calligraphic cartouches with bone inlay, at the top and on the edges of the lower unit a muqarnas (honeycomb pattern) frieze between two rectangular drawers, the sides carved with openwork ogival arches, a decorative balustrade in the middle of the two units with a calligraphic cartouche in Arabic, the upper section held by two baluster-like shafts, with more stained glass windows with stellar design, surmounted by three crenelated decorative friezes with crescent finials, further mashrabiya panels, cusped flanges, and decorative columns to the sides, the upper unit featuring horse-shoe arches differring from the lobed and cusped arch on the lower unit, most of the calligraphic cartouches inlaid in ebony, ivory and mother-of-pearl like the rosettes to the edges, at the back an enamelled plaque stamped Nice, Place de La Clichy, 15 Avenue de la Gare 15, 290cm x 62cm x 154cm.
