A George II / George III Irish sterling silver salver, Dublin circa 1760 by William Townsend (active 1726-75)
Of shaped circular form with a shaped cavetto edge and gadrooned rim interspersed with alternating scallop shells and husk shells with scrolls, all raised upon three scallop shell scroll feet. The field centre engraved with a contemporaneous quartered coat of arms within a rocaille C scroll cartouche flanked by foliage. The reverse with scratch weight 41=0. Marked to rim edge with makers mark (Bennett 576), town mark and standard mark only.
