PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, 19th and 20th century

Opaque pigments, acrylic colours, ink, white wash, and gold on paper, comprising four vertical compositions depicting floral studies of rose bushes, featuring large roses, rosebuds, foliage, further wildflowers, birds, and butterflies, matching the standard aesthetic of the beloved Persian topos of the rose and the nightingale (gol-o-bolbol), one composition against gold ground signed Nasr-ullah Imami and dated Moharram 1285 AH (1868 AD) in black ink in the centre at the bottom; another one signed in red ink on the lower right corner Forsat Shirazi, with the declaration made for a friend amongst friends; and the largest composition in the frame signed Issa al-Fatah (?) and dated 1367 AH (1948 AD), two mounted on polychrome cardboard borders, the third onto a marbled cardboard border, and the last mounted, glazed and framed, the largest 44cm x 32cm.
