Edward Hodges Baily R.A., F.R.S., was an English sculptor. He spent seven years in the studio of John Flaxman where he was acknowledged as his favourite pupil, and went on to attend the Royal Academy Schools. He is best known as the sculptor of Nelson on Nelson's Column, carved in Craigleath sandstone, which was constructed between 1840-1843 to a design by William Railton to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson who died at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
