AN EXTREMELY FINE SILK SOUF PRAYER QUM RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The pale dusty-pink field with multicoloured flowering vase, floral plants, birds and animaal figures. Single coloumn at each side supporting arabesque triple arch mihrab. In an ivory and beige cartouche border of floral sprays, animals and birds between flowering vine, reciprocal and barber-pole stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 5ft.9in. x 3ft.6in.(175cm. x 107cm.) Very nice quality rug with unusual souf weave, seldom found with Qum rugs. This piece has full pile, soft silk quality and good colour combination. Ends original with kilim and fringes. Selvages also original. Extremely fine weave, approx; 10 x 9 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Attractive and elegant piece.
