AN ENGRAVING OF BYRON AND MARIANNA SEGATTI FROM VENICE Drummond (W., after) & Zobel (G., after), mezzotint, some creasing, 39cm x 26cm, framed & glazed, Moss & Co., n.d. In a letter to fellow poet Thomas Moore, part of which is reproduced below this mezzotint, Byron described an interruption by his new love: ‘... I really cannot go on. There is a pair of great black eyes looking over my shoulder… so that I must turn and answer them instead of you.’
