VIEWS IN INDIA, c.1860. Albumen prints from wet collodion glass negatives (38), image size 155 x 95mm or the reverse, pasted onto thick card support, with manuscript titles in ink, and loosely inserted into contemporary green morocco folio, titled 'India' in gilt. Views of Agra, Taj Mahal, Djennah, Taj Gate, view of the Fort, Motee-Musjeed, Calcutta, Viceroy's Palace, River, Strand, High Court, Museum, Boat Bridge, Eden Garden, Circular Canal, Delhi, Great Mosque, Minaret of Kotub, Bazaar.

Born in Calcutta in 1817, educated in England, and then returned to India where he married and worked for the East India Company. Recorded in 1841 as an examiner then head clerk, law, in the Secret and Political Department, but seems to have taken up photography in the 1850's before moving to Chandernagor where the only album of Oehme's work studied to date has emerged. There is an article on his life and work in 'Studies in South Asian Heritage' 2015, edited by Dr Mokammal H Bhuiyan and written by Prof Joachim Bautze.
