A memento mori posy ring, circa 1700-1750 The outer band chased with the form of a skeleton, engraved 'My love by this presented is', to the inner band, maker's mark TB, ring size O A similar example can be found in the collections of The British Museum, Museum number: 1961,1202.166 donated by the eminent art historian and posy ring collector Dame Joan Evans (1893-1977). The combination of the inscription and the decoration suggest the possibility that this ring was a declaration of love from a dying lover, willing their love to be remembered after death.
