1 Imperial of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1969

Still drinking well 50 years on this is a testament to Lafite’s enduring nature. Garnet red and still with some lustre the 1969 has heady aromas of tobacco, tea leaves, leather and red raspberry’s with a ferrous hint. It’s well balanced with smooth tannin and a focused acidity that gives it excellent structure carrying the fruit from the nose. In very good condition, with fill level in the top shoulder. 1969 was a year with a very small harvest, the smallest one of the decade in Bordeaux.
