AN ANTIQUE MOGHAN RUG, SOUTH CAUCASUS

The field with rectangular barber-pole lattice containing multicoloured octagons each with polychorome Memling gul. Inner side rectangular panels with stylised animal figures and S-motifs. In an ivory hooked panel border between arrowhead and barber-pole stripes, approx: 6ft. x 4ft.7in.(183cm. x 140cm.) Classic for this type. Design is well drawn and colours are well blended. This rug has slighly corroded black and slight wear to the top pile down to knot collar in places. Selvages fraying in places. Ends with short fringes with slight loss to guard stripe. In general this rug is in decent usable conditon. Attractive piece.
