A SMALL ENGRAVED AND FACETED BRONZE BOTTLE
Khorasan, Eastern Iran, 12th century

With a diamond-shaped faceted body resting on a short slightly splayed foot, rising to a very narrow flared neck terminating in a cup-shaped finial with circular rim and a band of protruding rounded bosses, the body engraved with cusped and circular medallions featuring mythical and wild animals and spiralling vegetal trellis, and the neck with fretwork bands, the rounded bosses on each angle of the faceted body engraved with stylised faces, 13cm high.
