A PAIR OF CHINESE RANK BADGES, BUZI.

Late Qing Dynasty.

For a fourth rank military official, worked in silk and metallic thread to depict a tiger standing on a rock amidst waves within a key fret and scroll bands, reserved on a black ground, framed together and glazed, each 28 x 30cm.

Provenance: an important South African private collection, acquired between the 1960s and 1980s, thence by descent to the present owner.

The works are well preserved with slight fading. Some of the threads have slightly unravelled. Please note the work has not been removed from its frame for examination.
