A STAFFORDSHIRE FLAT BACK GROUP OF LORD BYRON AND THE MAID OF ATHENS England, c. 1848-1850 A Staffordshire flat back group representing Lord Byron and Teresa Makri sitting on a rock, painted in white, brown, black and gold and glazed, both figures wearing early 19th-century Greek-inspired clothes, the young Byron with an open neck shirt, a sash, a waistcoat, a short overcoat, breeches and knee-length boots, Teresa Makri wearing a scarf over her head and one around her waist, a waist-short jacket, a long dress and flat-heel shoes, the base with a cartouche bearing the inscription 'Byron & Maid of Athens', along with decorative motifs and swirls, 37cm x 20cm.
