A LARGE SILVER-INLAID BIDRI WARE VASE
Bidar, Deccan, Central India, mid to late 19th century
Of inverted bulbous shape, resting on a splayed circular foot, rising from a narrow base to wide shoulders, with a rounded head and everted rim, the silver-inlaid decoration consisting of repeating oval cartouches of different sizes filled with fully blossomed rose bouquets with thick and staggered foliage, fretwork bands around the joints, on the rim and foot, pierced at the bottom and possibly once wired and used as a lamp stand, 33cm high.
