Comprising two shallow bowls the first under olive-green glaze, the second pale blue glaze, and two jian bowls, each decorated with black glaze draining from the rims in brown streaks towards unglazed biscuit foot, 14cm diameter. (4)
Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020).
Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects. His generosity was well known through the numerous thoughtful donations to the Fitzwilliam and other museums he made throughout his lifetime.
