A pair of George III Scottish sterling silver sauce tureens, Edinburgh 1803 by James McKay

each of rounded rectangular form upon four cast lion paw feet. The ribbed twin scroll handles with chased lion head mask junctions. Gadrooned rims. The domed edge pull off lids surmounted by an affixed twin entwined serpent handle, cut with a ladle aperture. The lid engraved with a crest of an Ox yoke in bend, below the motto Pro Patria. The lids and base stamped with numerals 1 and 2 respectively. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to lids. (2)
