A CHINESE DEHUA FIGURE OF WEN CHANG.

Qing Dynasty, 18th Century.

The god of literature seated in long robes, his right hand clutching the stiff belt around his belly, his left hand resting on his knee, his head covered in a tall official's cap with raised back and two long streamers resting on his shoulders, his face with eight pierced holes to allow for the insertion of real hair as a moustache, beard and ear hair, 26cm H.
