An early 20th century Chinese export silver christening mug, Canton circa 1910, marked Tong, retailed by KPG, probably for Pao Cheng

Qing dynasty. Of rounded circular form with a reeded rim upon a collet foot, the handle modelled as bamboo. The body with six chased and embossed panels of alternating, bamboo, iris flowers, Chinese dragon amidst clouds, flowering prunus, cymbidium, and peonies, the front with a vacant shield shape cartouche, all within elongated lozenges, reserved with a Y punched ground. Marked underneath with artisan mark 同 (TONG), and retailer’s mark KPG.

Weight – 75 grams / 2.41 ozt
