***Sir John 'Jock' Rupert Colville (1915- 1987) was a British civil servant who was Assistant Private Secretary to Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill and Clement Attlee. As appears from Colville's diaries, Churchill was particularly fond of him and regarded him as a close friend.
