AN ANTIQUE KULA RUG, TURKEY

The light blue field with polychrome palmettes and various angular small floral motifs around large shaded charcoal-brown field with palmettes, rosettes and angular floral tendrils. in light blue border of hooked vine and anguular floral sporays between double linked chain and plain stripes, approx: 175cm. x 136cm. Early type, second half 19th century. Design is well drawn with good colour combination. This rug has slight localized wear in places on the field and border. Small hole towards one end. Ends slightly fraying, secured. Selvages original also slightly fraying. In general this rug is in decent usable condition, seldom found type in the sales. Elegant and good furnishing rug.
