A COMMEMORATIVE ENAMEL AND GOLD LOVE TOKEN RING London, England, 1823-4 A Georgian love token ring, the 18 carat gold band centrally decorated with royal blue enamel, between lines of black enamel and engraved in clear Greek characters ZΩΗ ΜΟΥ ΣΑΣ ΑΓΑΠΩ (I love you, my life) - the famous refrain at the end of each stanza of Byron's poem 'Maid of Athens, ere we part', possibly a token of Byron's love given to Theresa Makri before the poet's death or a posthumous homage, maker's mark SR possibly for Samuel Reed and a London hallmark from 1823-4, ring size O.
