TWO BRONZE SINGLE-SPOUTED OIL LAMPS
Khorasan, Iran, 11th - 12th century
Comprising two analogous single-spouted oil lamps, each with a tall splayed foot rising from a circular saucer with a gently everted rim, with a ringed stem and compressed globular body, each side featuring an upward curved spout and sinuous handle surmounted by a bird, the hinged lid at the top of the lamp in the shape of a lion head, the largest 20cm high (the saucer 13.5cm diam.).
