Magic lantern slides (approx. 3,400), early 20th century, depicting landscapes, antiquities, and archaeological ruins, used for educational purposes, each measuring 85 x 85mm, some hand-tinted, with manuscript titles affixed to the glass and edge, some with the University of London label. Subjects include: archaeological objects and finds, such as the Rosetta Stone, sculptures, bas-reliefs, ancient objects of common use; graphic reproductions of frescos, reliefs, temples, such as reliefs from the Tomb of Paheri; maps, aerial, topographical, and architectural views from Mesopotamia, including Amar, Nimrud, Nippur, Samarra, Babylon; Syria, including Tell Halaf, Palmyra, Hama; Egypt, including Sakkara, Medamud, Deir El the Sinai; Jordan, including Petra; Persia, including Behistun, Susa, Tepe Hissar; Arabia, Asia Minor.
