A Victorian sterling silver mounted horse hoof tobacco box, London 1899 by Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd
The mount chased to realistically modelled on a horse's foot, attached to a horse's foot with a silver horse show underneath. The top of the box with a hinged lid engraved with a presentation inscription reading “Rifleman by Zouave, Dam by Navarino, died 10th January 1900 aged 31, a faithful old friend and servant, the property of Captain Walsh R.A”. Fully marked to edge, horse shoe and part-marked to lid.
