A HAMSEH RUG, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The blue field with stylised birds, aniumal figures and hooked floral sprays around three serrated and linked lozenge medallions containing similar motifs. Part linked panel inner floral frame. In an ivory border of hooked palmettes and checkered leafy vine between hooked bars and barber-ppole stripes, approx: 206cm. x 172cm. Classic for this type with well drawn design. Good colour combinaton. Apart of tiny wear to the pile in one or two very small places, barely visible, this rug has good pile and in general is in very good usable condition, Ends with fringes, one with original kilim. Selvages partly rebound, well done. Good example from south-west persian tribal weaving. Good furnishing piece.
