A FINE KASHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The light rust field with delicate palmette and leafy vine around cusped medallion with pendants containing similar design enclosing smaller light beige radtiating panel and floral centrepiece. Arabesque and floral spandrels. In an indigo border multicoloured serrarted palmettes, arabesques and floral vine between sea-green and sandy-yellow floral meander stripes. Outer arrowhead and plain stripes, approx; 7ft.1in. x 4ft.7in.(215cm. x 140cm.) Very good example for this type with soft and lustrous kurk wool. Apart of very slight wear to the top pile on cord edges in few small places this rug has full pile and is in very good usable condition throughout. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. Fine weave, approx: 7 x 7 knots per sq. cm. Very good colour combination and well drawn design. Attractive and elegant piece.
