AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF SEKHMET Late Period, Circa 664 - 332 B.C. The lion-headed goddess is depicted wearing a close-fitting long dress, a tripartite wig, and a sun disc headdress with a frontal uraeus, the details of the mane and facial features finely incised, she stands on an integral base with a central tang, with her long arms held straight at her sides, 14.6cm high. Provenance: Gustave Mustaki, Alexandria, Egypt; exported from Egypt to the UK under licence c.1950; Elsa MacLellan, Portsmouth, UK; thence by descent from the above; Private collection, London, UK; by descent from the above; Private collection Rome.
