AN EARLY ISLAMIC GREEN GLAZED POTTERY INKWELL
Possibly Iran, 8th - 9th century

Of cylindrical shape, resting on four small rounded feet, with four triangular protruding flanges to the body, rising to a flat circular rim, the top concave and with a small circular hole to one side, the carved decoration to the body consisting of four panels of geometric designs displayed on horizontal registers, all covered in a deep green glaze, 7.2cm high and 8.2cm diam.
