A PAIR OF ANTIQUE AFSHAR RUGS, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The ivory field of each with very nicwely drawn Saleh-Sultan design of bold flowerign vases, hookd and angular floral motfis and birds. In deep rust-red border of hooked lozenges and batton border between floral meander, reciprocal and plain stripes, approx: 147cm. x 110cm. and 145cm. x 108cm. Unusual design for this type, seldom found woven in pair. Very well drawn design and good colour combination. Both rugs have slight wear to the top pile, down to knot collar in places otherwise good condition. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general both rugs are in good usable condition. Very good furnishing pair of rugs. Attractive.
